Already working in commercial fit-out and ready to move closer to the front end of the business? This could be the role that takes you from supporting projects and sales activity to building a genuine career in client relationships, business development and winning work. Our client is an established Design & Construct head contractor delivering high-quality fit-out, refurbishment and construction projects across Sydney. With more than 15 years in the market, around 40 employees, a strong base of repeat clients and an experienced in-house team, they have built an excellent reputation for quality delivery and long-standing relationships.

They are now looking for an ambitious Sales Coordinator to work directly with the Managing Director and become immersed in the commercial side of the business. This is not a traditional admin-based sales support role. The goal is to bring in someone with the right industry grounding, personality and ambition, give them exposure to clients and opportunities, and develop them into a broader sales and business development role over time. You must already be working within a commercial fit-out / D&C head contractor.

About the Opportunity

  • You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and gain first-hand exposure to how projects are identified, relationships are developed and opportunities are converted.
  • One day you might be researching a prospective client or upcoming project, the next helping prepare for a pitch, attending a client function or coordinating follow-up after a key meeting.
  • You’ll work across the business with design, estimating, pre-construction and delivery teams, giving you a strong understanding of how the entire D&C process comes together.
  • As you develop, you’ll be encouraged to build your own industry relationships, take greater ownership of client engagement and gradually move further into sales and business development.

Why make the move?

  • Gain genuine exposure to clients, pitches and new business opportunities
  • Build a long-term career path into sales and business development
  • Work alongside experienced design, pre-construction and delivery teams
  • Join a business with a strong repeat-client base and excellent staff retention
  • Be part of a broad project portfolio across multiple commercial sectors
  • Work from a modern North Sydney office with a collaborative, down-to-earth team

The Role

You’ll support the Managing Director across the full sales and client engagement process, including:

  • Researching prospective clients, projects and upcoming opportunities
  • Preparing for client meetings, pitches and presentations
  • Coordinating client follow-up and maintaining key relationship information
  • Managing sales pipeline and CRM activity
  • Preparing market intelligence, meeting briefs and client research
  • Working with internal teams on proposals and new business opportunities
  • Supporting client events, networking and industry engagement
  • Helping identify future project opportunities across the Sydney market

About You

You must already be working within a commercial fit-out / Design & Construct head contractor and understand how the market operates. Your current job title is less important than your exposure. You could currently be working in sales support, BD coordination, pre-construction, project coordination or another client-facing role within a D&C contractor and be looking for your next career move. You’ll be confident, commercially minded and naturally good with people. You’ll enjoy getting involved, asking questions, building relationships and understanding how businesses win work. Most importantly, you’ll be ambitious, switched on and hungry to learn. You’re not looking for another support role where you sit behind the scenes forever. You want to develop, gain greater client exposure and build a genuine career in sales within the commercial construction industry.

Salary up to $120K + super, depending on experience.
