About the Role
The Construction Project Engineer brings FORGE projects to life on the ground. Reporting to the Head of Construction, you'll support projects from front end design and preconstruction project coordination, incorporating HSEQ governance and then into live site delivery. This is a hands-on role that moves between site priorities and project administration. One day you'll be resolving a technical issue with the site crew. The next you'll be managing RFIs, tracking costs or closing out ITPs ahead of a hold point. Every project is different, from pedestrian bridges and boardwalks to playspaces and shade structures. The finished result is a public space that communities will use and enjoy for years to come.
Responsibilities
- Drive on-site delivery: Support the Project and Site Managers to coordinate labour, plant, subcontractors and materials, and keep the program on track.
- Own the technical detail: Manage RFIs, design queries and variations, and make sure inspections, ITPs and hold points are completed and documented.
- Protect quality and margin: Collaborate across teams on specifications and trade packages, flagging design clashes, scope gaps, variations and safety issues early to keep projects on budget.
- Manage subcontractors and contracts: Prepare trade packages and subcontracts, monitor performance, and assess progress claims and payment schedules.
- Track cost and progress: Monitor costs, productivity and forecasts against budget, and flag variations and extensions of time early.
- Champion safety and quality: Support HSEQ compliance through site inspections, audits and reporting, and deliver a complete QA and handover package at practical completion.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience within construction, civil or infrastructure onsite delivery projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, and site delivery processes.
- Solid experience in contract administration, cost control, scheduling, reporting and documentation.
- Confident using Procore, Aconex, Hammertech or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships on site, with clients and across the team.
- A proactive problem-solver who stays organised when managing competing priorities.
- Construction White Card (NSW) and a valid Australian Driver Licence.
