About the Role

The Pre-Construction Engineer supports pre-construction managers by handling tender submissions and managing successful projects through the design and pre-construction phases. Working alongside our design, delivery and client teams, you'll own the front end of each job. That means reading drawings, building estimates, running trade and supplier pricing, and shaping the program and methodology, ultimately preparing a thorough handover package for the Construction team.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pre-construction phases: Collaborating with design, consultants, and handover documentation.
  • Drive estimating and supplier engagement: Secure competitive bids and prepare costings.
  • Support project delivery: Assist with contracts, schedules, and reporting.
  • Manage risks and exceptions: Identify and resolve potential project issues.
  • Contribute to quality and cost control: Review tenders and support financial processes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in pre-construction, or project coordination within the construction industry.
  • Strong and practical understanding of construction processes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in estimating and take-offs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, obtain competitive quotes, and analyse costs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in project management principles and relevant software.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and risk management abilities.
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
