A well-established builder is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join the team delivering a $1bn, 150MW data centre development in Truganina.
The business has steadily developed its position in the data centre sector and is now delivering some of Australia's largest and most technically complex projects.
It has continued to grow its capability without losing the direct and collaborative working environment that has helped build the company.
The consistent feedback from people who know the business is that employees tend to stay.
Turnover is low, the senior team remains accessible, and many of the people working across the current project have developed through the ranks.
This creates a genuine longer-term opportunity for the person joining.
You will join the business as a Senior Project Engineer, but there is room to progress within the project and the wider data centre team as the company continues to grow in the sector.
The role will initially be based at the company's inner CBD head office, where you will work through the ECI phase with a particular focus on the civil and structural design.
You will coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and the wider project team to ensure the design is technically sound, buildable and properly developed before construction begins.
This will involve reviewing drawings and specifications, resolving technical issues, managing RFIs and design changes, coordinating interfaces and supporting procurement across the civil and structural packages.
You will be involved early enough to influence how the packages are developed, rather than inheriting them once the design is locked in.
Construction is expected to commence around April/May.
At that point, you will transition to the Truganina site and continue managing the same packages through construction, ensuring continuity from design development to delivery.
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer with strong technical capability across civil or structural works.
Your experience will include piling, concrete, structural steel, earthworks, drainage, in-ground services, or major external works.
Candidates can come from commercial construction, data centres, complex industrial projects, or major infrastructure projects.
Infrastructure experience will be taken seriously where it includes relevant civil and structural packages, consultant coordination, and responsibility for project delivery.
Data centre experience would be useful, but it is not essential.
We are looking for a stable work history in the construction industry.
The priority is finding someone who understands how design decisions affect construction, can challenge a design when required and has the capability to manage complex packages in a major-project environment.
This is an opportunity to join the project well before construction begins, influence the early technical decisions and remain involved through the delivery phase of one of Melbourne's largest developments.
