FinXL Professional Services is a leading IT consultancy partnering with top-tier enterprise clients to bridge the gap between strategic business needs and complex technology delivery. Since 2003, we have delivered high-value ICT capabilities across government, banking, telecommunications, and major enterprise sectors.
FinXL is seeking an experienced, outcome-driven Scrum Master / Agile Delivery Lead to join our Agile Practice on a 6-month initial engagement (with extension potential up to 18 months), deployed with a premier Central Banking institution. The role is based in Sydney CBD with occasional travel to Norwest.
We are seeking a proactive delivery leader who enters complex enterprise environments to actively redefine and streamline delivery practices, address delivery bottlenecks, and make engineering squads measurably more efficient.
You will partner with engineering squads, Product Owners, and architects navigating a mission-critical program covering:
- Large-scale application migrations from on-premise infrastructure to modern Cloud environments.
- Enterprise infrastructure modernisation and CI/CD delivery automation.
- High-standard governance, operational resilience, and security requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Backlog Optimisation & Planning Discipline: Partner closely with Product Owners and technical leads to resolve backlog bloat, instill strict Definition of Ready/Done standards, and ensure backlogs accurately reflect priority customer and business outcomes.
- Process Simplification: Continuously evaluate and refine delivery processes, deliberately removing governance overhead so ceremonies and delivery frameworks become noticeably lighter-weight over your tenure.
- Measurable Delivery Uplift: Move beyond simply reporting data by using flow metrics, cycle times, and throughput to identify blockers and demonstrably improve team delivery cadence.
- Ceremony & Delivery Execution: Facilitate core Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Standups, Reviews, Retrospectives) with a continuous focus on actionable outcomes and impediment resolution.
- Dependency & Risk Management: Proactively identify and clear cross-team dependencies across infrastructure, architecture, and cloud workstreams within strict regulatory frameworks.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Enterprise Experience: Proven background operating within large, highly regulated environments (Tier-1 Australian banks or complex government agencies).
- Proven Delivery Track Record: Clear evidence of having redefined delivery remits, streamlined engineering workflows, and made squads measurably faster and more efficient.
- Data-Proven Improvements: Demonstrated capability to track and improve upon core flow metrics (e.g., cycle time reduction, throughput uplift, release predictability).
- Backlog Problem Solving: Practical experience taking unrefined or stalled product backlogs and restructuring them into clear, actionable delivery increments.
- Technical Domain Awareness: Hands-on experience supporting technical teams delivering cloud migrations (AWS/Azure), infrastructure modernisation, or platform automation.
- Pragmatic Agile Mindset: Depth across Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile (SAFe) with a focus on practical delivery over dogmatic theory.
