Harmony Turf is seeking a reliable, hands-on Turf Farm Manager to oversee the daily operation of our farm, growing Kikuyu and Sir Walter Buffalo turf.
This role covers the full turf production cycle—from planting and maintaining healthy turf to harvesting customer orders and delivering them to site.
You’ll take pride in producing quality turf, maintaining the farm and ensuring orders arrive on time.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily farm operations and plan seasonal turf maintenance.
- Prepare soil, plant new turf and manage regrowth after harvesting.
- Monitor turf health and carry out mowing, fertilising, aerating, weed control and pest and disease management.
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems, scheduling watering to suit turf needs and weather conditions.
- Cut, harvest, stack and load turf accurately to meet customer orders.
- Coordinate harvesting and deliveries to maintain turf freshness and quality.
- Deliver orders to customer sites, ensuring loads are secured and unloaded safely.
- Operate and maintain tractors, mowers, turf harvesters, trucks and other farm equipment.
- Carry out routine equipment checks and minor repairs, and arrange servicing when required.
- Maintain paddocks, drainage, access roads, fences and general farm presentation.
- Keep records of turf production, treatments, water use, orders and equipment maintenance.
- Manage farm supplies and coordinate staff or contractors as required.
- Follow safe work practices, including machinery operation, manual handling and chemical storage and use.
About you
- Experience in turf farming, agriculture, horticulture or a similar hands-on role.
- Knowledge of turf care, irrigation and machinery operation; experience with Kikuyu and Sir Walter Buffalo is highly regarded.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Organised, dependable and able to work independently and prioritise daily tasks.
- Good communication skills and a professional manner when dealing with customers on site.
- A current driver’s licence and the appropriate licence for delivery vehicles.
- Relevant chemical handling qualifications or willingness to obtain them.
