About us
Federated Biologics manufactures advanced biologics. Our seed round is closed and we are building now. We are a small, flat team working in fast cycles on technology being deployed at commercial scale.
About the role
We are looking for a Research Associate to own day-to-day protein purification in our Alexandria laboratory. You will generate dependable, consistent data that the team uses to develop the process and to support customer programs. This is a hands-on laboratory role with real responsibility from the start.
Key responsibilities
- Run Protein A capture and polishing chromatography on the FPLC (ΓKTA), including set-up, running, sampling and clean-down.
- Prepare buffers and media accurately and consistently.
- Carry out experiments and design of experiments (DoE) studies, and record and analyse the resulting data.
- Support analytics, including cell culture sampling, titre measurement, and HPLC and ELISA preparation.
- Keep the laboratory and equipment in good order, and raise issues early when a sample, method, instrument or result is outside expectations.
Skills and experience required
- A degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemical engineering, molecular biology or a related field.
- At least one year of solid laboratory experience, including chromatography or FPLC/ΓKTA experience.
- Careful, repeatable and efficient technique, with a strong focus on clean data.
- An interest in understanding why a process works, not just following the steps.
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team with early responsibility.
- Experience with proteins or antibodies.
- Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks or data tools.
