Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach is seeking a dedicated Optical Dispenser/Assistant to join our team in a part-time or casual capacity. Based in Mermaid Beach, QLD, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in the optical healthcare sector, supporting our customers with their vision care needs. You will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional customer service whilst assisting with the dispensing of optical products and supporting our optometrists and dispensing opticians. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about eye care and committed to helping patients achieve their best vision.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting qualified dispensing opticians and optometrists in the fitting and dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses
- Welcoming customers, answering enquiries, and providing information about optical products and services
- Maintaining accurate customer records and processing orders using optical dispensing software
- Performing administrative duties including appointment scheduling, billing, and stock management
- Cleaning, adjusting, and maintaining optical frames and lenses to ensure quality standards
- Supporting the maintenance of a clean, organised, and professional dispensary environment
- Assisting with basic eye care education and helping customers understand their prescriptions
- Contributing to the overall smooth operation of the practice and supporting team members as required
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in an optical environment, dispensary, or healthcare setting is highly desirable
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to build rapport with diverse customers
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling optical prescriptions and patient records
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with practice management systems (training provided)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Reliability and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism
- Current or willingness to obtain relevant optical qualifications or certifications is advantageous
- A genuine interest in eye care and patient wellbeing
