Senior Transport Allocator – Truck & Dog / Hook Bin Operations in Sydney

Extreme Transport Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Allocator – Truck & Dog / Hook Bin Operations to join our team on a full-time basis at our Hurstville NSW 2220 facility. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the strategic allocation and coordination of our truck and dog fleet and hook bin operations, ensuring optimal efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. This is a leadership position that plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of our transport and logistics business, directly impacting our ability to deliver services reliably and cost-effectively to our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Allocating truck and dog units and hook bin resources to jobs based on customer requirements, vehicle availability, and operational priorities.
• Coordinating and scheduling transport operations to ensure timely pickup and delivery of loads whilst maximising fleet utilisation.
• Monitoring real-time fleet movements and adjusting allocations as needed to respond to changing operational demands and customer requests.
• Liaising with drivers, customers, and warehouse staff to communicate job details, provide updates, and resolve operational issues.
• Maintaining accurate records of fleet movements, job allocations, and operational data using transport management systems.
• Identifying opportunities to optimise routes and reduce costs whilst maintaining service quality standards.
• Supporting the resolution of customer complaints and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner.
• Supervising junior allocators and providing guidance, training, and support to ensure consistent performance and adherence to company procedures.
• Collaborating with operations management to plan capacity requirements and identify improvements to the allocation process.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant transport regulations, safety requirements, and company policies.

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport allocation, fleet coordination, or a related logistics role, preferably within truck and dog or heavy vehicle operations.
• Proven experience managing hook bin or similar waste/recycling collection operations is highly desirable.
• Strong proficiency with transport management systems, dispatch software, and telematics platforms.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop team members.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing operational improvements.
• Knowledge of relevant transport and logistics regulations, including chain of responsibility and safe work method statements.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data entry.
• Flexibility to work within standard business hours with occasional after-hours support during operational peak periods.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing business needs.
