Salary/Rate: To £70,000 + bonus + salary review + benefits

You know you're a good Financial Planner. But how good could you become with the right mentor? This business owner has helped one adviser grow their annual fee income from £75,000 to £368,000 in four years. Another has grown from £200,000 to £571,000 over the same period. Now there's an opportunity for a third adviser to follow that proven model and potentially achieve even faster growth.

The business operates in a niche sector, working with wealthy medical professionals. It is now entering a new chapter, having joined a larger national group while retaining its commitment to independent advice and considerable local autonomy. With more resources, an established flow of new client opportunities and direct mentoring from the owner who developed those advisers, the foundations are in place for someone ambitious to make significant progress over the next five years. The owner will remain actively involved for at least the next three years, giving you the opportunity to learn directly from someone who has already demonstrated how to develop successful, commercially accomplished IFAs. You’ll also benefit from the expertise of a wider Midlands advice team and dedicated central support.

PACKAGE

  • Basic salary up to £70,000
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Annual salary reviews as your revenue and contribution grow
  • Longer-term bonus opportunities linked to new business and client bank development
  • Pension
  • Income Protection
  • Critical Illness cover
  • Death in Service
  • 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Sick pay
  • Option to buy up to 10 additional days' holiday

LOCATION

Location is flexible for the right person, although Birmingham and the wider Midlands are particularly attractive. If you're in Bristol/Bath, Oxford, London/South East and even Cheshire/Manchester, this business can make that work too. In Birmingham, you'll have access to the office. If you're based elsewhere, remote working arrangements are available.

THE JOB

You’ll pick up new enquiries generated through seminars, events, professional introductions and referrals. You’ll work with the wider team to turn these opportunities into long-term client relationships and take on selected existing clients where capacity is needed. The focus is on building your own portfolio of increasingly affluent clients, providing high-quality independent financial advice and developing significant recurring fee income. The advice is broad financial planning, covering pensions, investments, protection and wider planning work. There are also some substantial protection opportunities, with recent cases generating initial fees of £20,000 and £27,000. You’ll be supported by paraplanning, administration, operations, client relationship management and marketing. As your activity grows, further support can be added around you.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You’ll need to be a qualified Financial Planner or IFA who can build trust with clients, develop relationships and represent the business well with professional introducers. 2-5 years advice experience backed up by solid performance is needed too. Being Chartered, or being keen to become Chartered, is also important. You don't need to bring clients. You do need to enjoy building relationships, following up warm opportunities and turning good client conversations into long-term planning relationships. You’ll also need ambition to become a better adviser, work with increasingly affluent clients and see your contribution reflected in your earnings.
