What’s the opportunity?
As an Apprentice Diesel Fitter, you'll undertake a structured apprenticeship program while learning your trade in a modern underground and surface mining environment. Working alongside experienced Diesel Fitters and maintenance professionals, you'll gain hands‑on experience maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy mining equipment while completing your trade qualification through TAFE.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will learn to:
- Service, maintain and repair heavy mining equipment and mobile plant
- Assist with breakdown repairs and fault finding activities
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Complete component change‑outs and equipment inspections
- Develop mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Work across a diverse fleet of underground and surface equipment
- Gain exposure to heavy vehicles and ancillary plant
- Complete maintenance documentation and inspection records
- Work safely within a large‑scale mining operation
- Maintain high housekeeping, safety and quality standards
- Demonstrate behaviours aligned with Evolution Mining's values of Safety, Excellence, Accountability and Respect
This is an entry‑level opportunity designed for people who enjoy working with their hands, have a keen interest in mechanics and are looking to build a long‑term career in the mining industry.

This position is based on a 7 day on, 7 day off dayshift only roster, and is residential to Kalgoorlie.

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Completion of Year 10
- Pre‑apprenticeship, Certificate II or trade‑related studies
- Exposure to automotive, mechanical or electrical activities
- Previous experience working with tools, vehicles or equipment
