About the Role

Are you a structural engineering or construction student looking for a steady casual role where you can run your own function? Are you newly qualified and looking for entry role to learn and grow? We are looking for a capable Drafter / Estimator to own our internal drafting and estimating workflow. Unlike traditional internships where you just shadow a senior engineer, you will be our dedicated internal person for drafting and take-offs. This is a fantastic opportunity to take real ownership of your work, build autonomy, and gain practical industry experience that will set your resume far ahead of your peers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Drafting: Take our project concepts and markups to create clean, accurate structural drawings and details using CAD software.
  • Material Estimating: Conduct complete material take-offs (steel and aluminum) and prepare clear cost estimates for our ongoing projects.
  • Workflow Management: Manage your own project pipeline to ensure drawings and estimates are completed on time.
  • Team Liaison: Collaborate directly with our project team to clarify requirements and update project files.

What We Are Looking For

  • Current Student: Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural), Construction Management, or an Advanced Diploma in Drafting highly considered.
  • Independent CAD Skills: Confident basic exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software. You should be comfortable starting and modifying drawings independently.
  • Reliable Attention to Detail: High accuracy when reading plans, scaling dimensions, and calculating material quantities.
  • Self-Motivated: Comfortable working independently and managing your own time to meet project deadlines.

What We Offer

  • Autonomy & Ownership: You won't just be doing basic data entry; you will be running our internal drafting and estimating desk.
  • Complete Flexibility: We completely support your studies. We will easily scale your hours down during exam blocks and peak university weeks.
  • Great Workspace: A relaxed, supportive team environment with modern tools and software setup.
