About the Role

This is a hands-on skilled role that provides the practical link between landscape construction and ongoing maintenance. You will take works from plan interpretation, site preparation and set-out through installation, establishment, rectification and handover. Your duties will include:

  • Preparing and interpreting landscape plans and drawings, selecting suitable materials and plants, confirming measurements and quantities, and planning the work sequence.
  • Setting out and installing hardscape and softscape works to the required line, level and quality, including gravel and paved areas, edging, walls, fences, trellises, pergolas, ponds, barbecues and garden furniture.
  • Preparing sites, soil, seedbeds, garden beds and growing areas, including excavation, levelling, drainage, soil improvement and placement of growing media.
  • Planting trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, bulbs and other plants, and preparing lawn areas using topsoil, grass seed or instant turf.
  • Installing and maintaining irrigation components where trained and authorised, and completing required erosion, sediment and environmental controls.
  • Establishing and maintaining completed landscapes through watering, mowing, edging, mulching, pruning, hedging, fertilising, cultivation and staking.
  • Monitoring plant, turf and irrigation performance and controlling weeds, pests and plant disease using approved methods where appropriately certified.
  • Inspecting completed works, rectifying defects and non-conformances, and preparing safe, clean and presentable areas for handover.
  • Safely operating authorised tools, vehicles, plant and machinery, completing pre-starts and reporting defects promptly.
  • Following site rules, SWMS, HSEQ and environmental requirements, using required PPE and reporting hazards, incidents and immediate risks.

What You Will Need

  • Practical experience delivering landscape establishment, maintenance and rectification through to handover under commercial specifications, programs and quality standards.
