Do you love the thrill of landing a story? Do you want to take your communications career to the next level? Do you want a position that helps to drive social and political change? We could be looking for you.
Essential is a strategic communications agency working primarily with progressive civil society and not-for-profit organisations. We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated media consultant to handle key Melbourne based clients.
The position would suit a journalist looking to make a move into consultancy, an NGO media adviser wanting broader experience, or even a corporate comms professional looking for more meaningful work.
You will be organised and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with challenging deadlines. You will show initiative and ensure tasks are followed through to the end. You will have a keen interest in politics and social advocacy. Most importantly, you will be enthusiastic and excited to learn new skills.
About Essential and our Campaigns Managers
As Australia’s leading progressive communications agency, Essential draws on over 30 years of research insights and strategy counsel to deliver winning campaigns that strengthen our clients and their communities. Our campaigns engage and activate the public, influence policy outcomes and shift public opinion. We win campaigns and make organisations stronger.
Essential delivers integrated support for our clients across market research, campaign strategy, earned media, digital media, fundraising, advertising and production. Our research and communications methodology, developed and tested for over 30 years, ensures our client’s communications are evidence based.
Campaigns Managers at Essential are responsible for managing several client projects and campaigns. You will be the primary point of contact for your clients and have a natural flair for juggling competing priorities in a high pressure but supportive team environment.
We are currently looking for an exceptional communicator who is organised, strategic and experienced in high level media relations. There will be early starts and sometimes unusual hours. While Campaigns Managers are required to develop and implement campaign strategy across all communication channels, we are especially interested in applicants with a strong background in media relations for this position.
With support and oversight from our Partners and Principals, Campaigns Managers are the central point of truth for a client’s campaign – ensuring projects are on time, on message and on budget. They provide communications advice to clients, supervise the work of any junior consultants allocated to the account, and ensure the services delivered are integrated and best utilised for the needs of the clients’ strategy.
The position is also expected to actively participate in business development, seeking out new opportunities to progress our clients’ objectives and contribute to Essential’s success.
