EOS Space Systems requires an early or mid-career mechanical design engineer. Candidates need to possess strong fundamental knowledge of general mechanical engineering practices backed by hands-on experience in designing large scale metallic and composite structures, servo-drive systems and gearboxes, precision positioners and encoders and electro-opto-mechanical assemblies.
More specifically, an ideal candidate would have a strong background in designing, implementing and testing telescopes, telescope enclosures, positioning systems and servo drives. Applicants must be confident in working in fast-pace multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
Responsibilities
- Structural design and analysis of lasers, optical mounts, telescopes and telescope enclosures.
- Implement retrofits and redesign sub-systems and components for existing EOS telescopes.
- Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors and manage delivery and installation of designed components to tight timeframes.
- Develop design documentation within the EOS' systems engineering framework.
- Perform assembly, integration, verification and validation testing of designed components and assemblies.
