Berne Fleming Civil Pty Ltd (BFC) is a leading provider of civil construction, earthmoving and mining services throughout regional Victoria and outer metropolitan Melbourne.
From our base in Ballarat, we offer clients the convenience of a 'one-stop-shop' for a wide array of services, from civil construction to bulk earthworks, and from vegetation management to plant hire.

The role:
This isn't a traditional BDM or sales role. We're looking for a connector: someone who can find opportunities, open doors and build genuine, long-term relationships on our behalf.
You'll work closely with our estimating, engineering and operational team leads, creating the introductions and opportunities they can turn into successful projects. You'll be the face of our business in the market, whether that's at industry events, on site visits or over a coffee.
What you’ll do:
Identify and create opportunities, including those outside our usual tender and referral channels
Build and maintain relationships with clients, developers, consultants, councils, service authorities and many more
Open doors for our estimating, engineering and operations leads, and hand over well-qualified leads
Keep a close eye on the market, talking with your extended network to identify upcoming projects and emerging opportunities
Represent BFC at industry events and networking functions
Share what you learn from the market with our leadership team
About you:
A natural networker who is comfortable starting conversations and building trust
Curious and resourceful, with the initiative to find opportunities others miss
Someone who builds relationships rather than chasing quick sales
A strong communicator, both written and verbal
A person of integrity whose values match ours
Collaborative, and happy to work alongside technical and operational teams
Knowledge of earthmoving and civil construction is highly regarded, but not essential. If you have a strong network and the right approach, we'll help you learn the rest
What we offer:
A Progressive Tiered Commission pay structure that includes:
Base Salary (retainer): $80k per annum + Super
Uncapped Incentive Payments
Proposed Incentive structure (to be agreed upon appointment):
Tier 1 (0 to $6m): 0.33% of revenue generated (up to $20,000 per annum)
Tier 2 ($6m to $12m): 1.00% of revenue generated (up to $60,000 per annum)
Tier 3 (Above $12m): 1.50% uncapped accelerators on every dollar over target
A fully maintained vehicle and tools of trade (laptop, etc.)
Employment flexibility with significant autonomy
Weekly pay cycle
