EPA works to prevent and reduce the harmful effect of pollution and waste on Victoria's environment and people. We work with community, industry and businesses. As the needs of Victorians change, we must be equipped to adapt and respond to a range of factors.

We are a workplace committed to new ways of working, EPA celebrates diversity of people and lifestyles. We offer a wide range of practical options to support both your work and personal life.

The EPA Experience

  • Range of internal working groups, networks and volunteering opportunities
  • On‑the‑job training for a wide range of environmental roles
  • Flexible start and finish times, as well as compressed work week options

About the role:

As Senior Regulatory Standards Officer - Knowledge Management, you will strengthen consistent regulatory practice across EPA by leading the governance of regulatory standards, the regulatory codification framework and EPA's central regulatory knowledge systems. You will work with leaders and specialist teams to keep regulatory guidance accurate, accessible, current and fit for purpose, supporting sound internal regulatory decision‑making and a consistent one‑EPA approach.

This is an opportunity to shape how EPA manages and shares regulatory knowledge, improve the governance and visibility of internal standards, and support consistent, risk‑based regulatory decisions across the organisation.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and maintain a centralised repository of internal regulatory knowledge that responds to stakeholder needs and EPA's regulatory risk profile.
  • Develop and maintain EPA's regulatory codification and doctrine frameworks to support consistent messaging, style and operational practice.
  • Provide advice and guidance to specialist regulatory teams on codifying internal practices and operational policies.
  • Maintain tools, registers and reporting that provide visibility of document ownership, review status, publication status and future review workloads.
  • Coordinate the development, review, update and publication of regulatory guidance and standards, and support new decision‑making guidance with leaders and key stakeholders.

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining knowledge management, information governance or content management frameworks in a complex organisation.
  • Senior experience in policy and regulation development, preferably within government.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of complex information and keep content accurate, accessible, current and fit for purpose.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, including promoting knowledge‑sharing practices and adoption of information governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in environmental regulation relating to pollution and waste, with the ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures.
  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualification in environmental science, engineering or a related discipline is desirable.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks, including employment verification, referee checks, a statutory declaration and a national police check. Additional security clearance may be required for designated roles.

EPA Victoria recognises the value of the diversity, strength, and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as we work with Traditional Owners to care for our environment. We provide a culturally safe and embracing work environment.
