About the organisation
Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is the state's environmental regulator, working to prevent and reduce the harmful effects of pollution and waste on Victorian communities and ecosystems. This organisation is values-led, future-focused, and committed to delivering lasting impact for all Victorians.
About the role
As Head of Scheme Performance, you will provide expert leadership across waste industry operations, scheme reporting, performance management and circularity outcomes for Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS). You will oversee scheme integrity, performance risks and continuous improvement, providing trusted technical, contractual and stakeholder advice to support effective scheme delivery. You will lead mandatory scheme reporting and performance monitoring, use data and strategic intelligence to inform executive decision-making, and identify and respond to performance failures, emerging market failure risks and reputational issues. Leading a team of 4-5 direct reports, you will also build trusted relationships across government, industry, community and scheme participants to strengthen scheme performance and public confidence.
About you
You are an experienced senior leader with demonstrated experience in recycling, waste management or container deposit systems, including the strategic leadership of complex programs or regulatory systems. You can interpret complex regulations, standards and guidelines, improve the performance of complex service delivery, regulatory or market-based systems, and anticipate emerging trends, stakeholder expectations and external influences. You bring strong systems thinking, analytical judgement and problem-solving capability, together with highly developed stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills across government, industry and community. A relevant tertiary degree or qualification in waste and/or recycling policy, engineering or a similar discipline is required.
