This role ensures compliance with privacy laws, drives internal policy and framework development, and promotes a strong culture of privacy awareness. Working across legal, IT, security, and business functions, the Privacy Officer embeds privacy-by-design into operations and digital initiatives, addresses key privacy risks, and builds long-term governance through a dedicated Privacy Office—ultimately uplifting EA’s overall privacy capability and maturity. This is a 2 year fixed term opportunity.

Location: Flexible with a preference for Melbourne or Brisbane.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and implement privacy policies, frameworks, and internal controls to support organisational compliance and best practice.
  • Oversee privacy risk management, including conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and managing incidents and complaints.
  • Provide strategic privacy advice to senior leaders, project teams, and business units, including support for third-party risk assessments.
  • Foster a strong privacy culture through training, awareness initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and regular compliance reporting.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Extensive privacy expertise with 5+ years' experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance, and a strong understanding of key regulations (e.g. Australian Privacy Act, GDPR, ISO 27701).
  • Hands-on experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), managing privacy incidents, and developing privacy policies, frameworks, and controls.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Preferred qualifications include certifications such as CIPP/E or CIPM, experience supporting digital transformation or data governance, and familiarity with privacy tools (e.g. OneTrust, TrustArc).
  • Key strengths in strategic thinking, risk management, legal awareness, change leadership, and analytical problem-solving.
