Lead environmental management on a major Queensland BESS project, working alongside construction teams to deliver practical, compliant project outcomes. Support environmental management on Enerven's first major Queensland BESS project.

Work across environmental compliance, risk management and major project delivery.

About the role:

Enerven is expanding into Queensland with the 400MW/1,600MWh Teebar Battery Energy Storage System, our first major project in the state and our first partnership with Atmos Renewables. We're building the team to deliver the civil and electrical balance of plant (BoP), including site preparation, integration of Valo battery technology, a 275 kV substation and overhead transmission lines. This is an opportunity to take on new challenges, work with local people and suppliers, and help deliver a battery that will provide four hours of storage to support Queensland's energy future.

At Enerven, safety comes first, with a focus on making sure everyone goes home safely each day. We're seeking an experienced Environment Consultant to support environmental management across the Teebar project, working closely with project leaders, construction teams and contractors to identify and manage environmental risks, ensure compliance and drive positive environmental outcomes.

Day to day, you will:

  • Develop, implement and maintain project environmental management plans, systems and controls.
  • Identify, assess and manage environmental risks and impacts, including biodiversity, soil, water and cultural heritage.
  • Provide practical environmental advice to project leaders, construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Monitor environmental compliance through site inspections, audits and contractor performance reviews.
  • Coordinate environmental incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with clients, regulators and specialist consultants to ensure project and legislative requirements are met.

This is a site-based role on an 18-month fixed-term contract, working a 10 days on, 4 days off Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) roster, with travel on days 1 and 10. Ideally, you'll be based in the Fraser Coast region, including Maryborough or Hervey Bay. We're also open to candidates from Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas who are comfortable with the DIDO roster travel to site.

About you:

You're an experienced environmental professional who enjoys being on site, working with construction teams and taking ownership of environmental outcomes. To be successful, you'll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Management or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years' environmental experience, ideally within construction, mining or major infrastructure.
  • Experience developing and implementing environmental management plans and project controls to effectively manage environmental risks and compliance obligations.
  • Strong understanding of Queensland environmental legislation, approvals and compliance requirements, including environmental risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence construction teams and contractors.
  • A current Australian driver's licence.

Experience in energy infrastructure, renewable energy projects or environmental auditing will be highly regarded.

Ready to contribute to Queensland's energy future? We'd love to hear from you.
