About the Role

Love what you do and leave your mark. Hybrid ways of working - Melbourne or Sydney Location. Large-scale transformation: Shape target-state infrastructure and cloud roadmaps across Australia’s largest retail drinks and hospitality footprint at an exciting stage of independent evolution. Modern multi-cloud: Drive modern architectural patterns across Azure, GCP, and hybrid environments utilising contemporary Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks.

As a Cloud & Infrastructure Architect, you will play a pivotal role in formulating target-state architectures, guiding strategic infrastructure investments, and steering multi-cloud modernisation across Azure, GCP, on-premises systems, and enterprise networks. Partnering closely with Enterprise Architects, engineering squads, cybersecurity, and senior business leaders, you will author rigorous architecture artefacts—evaluating cost, risk, and feasibility trade-offs to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient technology foundations.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • End-to-end design: Architect resilient infrastructure and network solutions across Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments, authoring comprehensive High-Level Design (HLD), Detailed-Level Design (DLD), and Low-Level Design (LLD) artefacts.
  • Architecture governance leadership: Guide designs through formal enterprise approval, presenting solution proposals and options papers to the Architecture Alignment Forum (AAF) and Architecture Review Board (ARB).
  • Standards formulation: Partner with Enterprise Architecture to develop infrastructure guidelines, target patterns, and guardrails that ensure scalability, operational performance, and robust security.
  • Trade-off analysis: Produce comprehensive options papers that balance commercial viability, cost optimisation, and risk, incorporating market research frameworks such as Gartner guidance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work alongside Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Network, and Risk teams to assess technical dependencies, review solutions, and capture risks within delivery registers.
  • Autonomous problem resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex architectural bottlenecks and deviations from standard practice, exercising autonomy to preserve enterprise architectural integrity.

What do we need from you?

Now let’s talk about you:

  • Enterprise architecture expertise: Proven experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical infrastructure architectures within large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Multi-cloud proficiency: Deep technical understanding of Azure cloud services (including App Service, SQL, Container Registry, and Data Factory), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform or ARM templates.
  • Network architecture capability: Solid understanding and end-to-end design capability across traditional compute/storage infrastructure and enterprise networking (LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN).
  • Industry credentials held: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Stakeholder influence mastery: Outstanding communication and advisory skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate intricate technical designs into clear, plain language for commercial stakeholders.
  • Governance forum exposure: Practical experience or strong familiarity with preparing artefacts for and presenting to formal governance bodies, such as an ARB or AAF.
  • Retail sector experience: Background delivering architecture within retail, FMCG, or customer-facing commercial environments is highly regarded.
