We’re on the hunt for a Function Managing Guru for The Ship Inn where functions and events bring our community together creating experiences everyone loves.
A day in the life of a Function Manager:
- Lead end to end delivery of events, from planning and client consulting in a friendly manner, to execution and any post event follow ups.
- Manage and coordinate a very diverse events calendar - weddings, corporates, shows, entertainment and private functions and individually manage each individual client's needs when building such events.
- Manage payments, contracts and event details.
- Lead and develop the functions team, communicating the timeline running of the event in line with venue expectations.
- Delegate roles amongst the team to help even workload with encouraging guidance.
- Build and maintain strong client relations, ensuring an appropriate response time to all clients is met.
- Identify opportunities for growth in the business, reaching out to existing clients, contributing to sales strategies and package offerings, menu and upgrades.
- Be a key part of the leadership crew, working closely with the Publican and Assistant Managers.
- Share your passion, skills, and creativity to grow a high-performing function and events team.
- Deliver exceptional functions and events with good vibes, great service and all those little extras going above and beyond.
Inherent requirements:
- This is a hands-on role. Physical requirements include setup of function spaces, table/decor staging, and movement of event equipment and supplies.
- Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.
About you:
- Relevant qualification (Diploma in Event Management, Hospitality, or Business) or minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in event/function management.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Passion in presentation and delivering outstanding events.
- Ability and confidence to manage multiple events and priorities.
- Friendly, sociable and approachable manner.
- Solution focused and independent thinking.
