Elect Capital is changing how SMEs access funding.

We provide fast, flexible working capital loans, business loans, and merchant cash advances - no red tape, no slow decisions.

Live across the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US, and scaling fast, we give SMEs the speed and flexibility traditional lenders can't.

Our Mission

We exist to give SMEs the capital and confidence to grow - fast, fair, and friction-free.

Every ambitious business deserves a real shot at growth, not months of paperwork.

We've built lending for speed, without cutting corners on fairness.

When SMEs win, we win.

The Role

We're looking for a sharp, detail-driven Underwriter to assess credit risk across our deal flow.

You'll analyse financials, apply credit policy, and work closely with sales, broker partners, ops, and credit to help move good deals fast - and stop bad ones faster.

This is a hands‑on role where accuracy, commercial instinct, and pace are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite deals from $25K to $1.5M, with decisioning authority aligned to experience
  • Analyse financials, bank data, and open banking feeds to assess creditworthiness
  • Apply credit risk policies accurately and flag sensible exceptions for review
  • Support offer structuring that balances speed, risk, and commercial value
  • Work closely with sales and our broker partners to support fast decisions and clean execution
  • Escalate edge cases and complex scenarios to senior underwriters or credit leadership
  • Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and CRM records
  • Contribute insight and feedback to help refine credit policy over time

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years' credit assessment or underwriting experience in SME or commercial lending
  • Experience in unsecured, short-term SME underwriting
  • Confident analysing bank statements, open banking data and financials to assess serviceability and cash flow
  • Working knowledge of ATO, ASIC, PPSR and credit bureau (Equifax/illion) checks
  • Highly organised - nothing gets missed, nothing gets dropped
  • Thrives on pace and volume without sacrificing accuracy
  • Clear, commercial communicator with sales and broker partners
  • Bonus
  • Revenue-based finance or merchant cash advance experience (fintech/non-bank)
  • Broker-originated deal flow experience
  • Experience identifying fraud, doctored statements or loan stacking
  • Held a delegated credit authority
  • Our Offer
  • Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000 AUD + super
