Props, sets and brand activations. Not kitchens.

At Eizi Design Co., we design and build props, sets and custom structures for brand activations, events and experiences.

Agencies and brands come to us with an idea and we work out how to actually build it.

Instead of building joinery for homes or commercial fitouts, we build for the marketing industry.

Work has picked up and we're looking for another maker to join us at our Appin workshop on a casual or contract basis, taking projects from the bench through to install and pack-down.

About You

  • You're confident across materials. Timber, sheet goods, steel, aluminium, acrylic and foam are all familiar, and you know which approach suits which job.
  • You can read a drawing and understand what you're being asked to build before you pick up a tool.
  • You work to precise measurements and you notice the details. You care what something looks like when it's finished, not just whether it holds together.
  • You're comfortable on site as well as in the workshop. Bump in and bump out is part of this role, so you're happy to load the truck, install the work and pack it down afterwards.
  • You take ownership of your work and see it through. If you say something will be done, it gets done.
  • You're flexible with hours. Most weeks are straightforward, but installs mean early starts and the occasional weekend.
  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Fabricating, assembling and finishing props, set pieces and activation components
  • Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and cutting lists
  • Working across timber, sheet goods, metal, acrylic, foam, hardware and finishes
  • Using plant machinery and hand tools to build our projects
  • Contributing to construction method discussions and problem-solving builds
  • Carrying out quality control before anything leaves the workshop
  • Packing, protecting and loading work for transport
  • Delivering, installing and removing projects on site
  • Keeping the workshop clean, safe and organised, and looking after the tools
  • What You'll Need
  • Solid hands-on experience in a trade or workshop environment.

Prop making, set and scenic building, exhibition and display, cabinetmaking, joinery or shopfitting all translate well

  • Confidence using woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and accurately
  • Ability to read plans and drawings accurately
  • Precision and consistency with measurements
  • A strong eye for finish quality
  • Comfort with physical work, manual handling and being on your feet
  • Availability for early starts and the occasional weekend during install periods
  • Your own transport to Appin, as public transport is limited
  • Clear communication and a team-first attitude
  • Nice To Have
  • Cert III in Cabinet Making, Shopfitting, Carpentry or a related trade
  • White Card and a current driver's licence
  • Forklift, EWP or working at heights tickets
  • Spray finishing, vinyl application, welding or CNC experience
  • Previous experience on activations, events or exhibitions
  • You'll Love This Role If You
  • Take pride in a high-quality finish
  • Enjoy variety and want every job to be a bit different
  • Like seeing something through from the bench to the site
  • Want to work on standout builds for recognisable brands
  • Want to grow with a small business that's getting busier
