About the role

The Assistant Centre Leader supports the Centre Leader to run the service while staying close to the children and the team. Roughly 80 per cent of your time is with children and educators, and 20 per cent on leadership and operations. This is a genuine pathway to Centre Leadership.

  • Support Educators and Room Leaders to strengthen programming, observations, planning and reflective practice
  • Champion child protection, safeguarding and child safe practice
  • Ensure compliance with the National Regulations, the National Quality Standard and Thrive policies, and support incident management and risk assessment
  • Coach and mentor Educators, Diploma Educators, Room Leaders and Trainees, and support onboarding and probation reviews
  • Assist with rosters, workforce planning, leave cover and staffing coverage, and support roster optimisation
  • Support Quality Improvement Plan work and Assessment and Rating preparation
  • Support tours, enrolment conversations and family onboarding
  • Act as the delegated leader when the Centre Leader is away

What you will bring

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, ACECQA approved, or equivalent
  • Current Working with Children Check for the state the role is based in
  • Current First Aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis qualifications
  • Child protection training
  • Demonstrated experience as a Diploma Educator, Room Leader, Educational Leader or similar senior role
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Framework and the National Regulations
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting rostering and workforce planning
  • Experience supporting Assessment and Rating preparation
  • Understanding of occupancy, enrolment and centre performance measures
  • About Thrive
  • Thrive Early Learning Centres operate across New South Wales and Victoria. Our Learning for Life Curriculum and Thrive Quality Framework set the standard of education and care across our services, and our CARE values, Confidence, Attitude, Respect and Education, describe how we work with children, families and each other.

Child safety

Thrive is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children. All applicants are subject to employment screening, including a valid Working with Children Check for the state in which the role is based, and reference checks.
