Bowraville Central School is a K-12 campus serving a diverse community within the Nambucca Valley on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. With a long and proud history dating from 1875, the school's first ever Year 12 candidates completed their Higher School Certificate examinations in 2008. For several years, the school has been a recipient of additional equity funding, enabling staff and community to work together to create innovative programs of support for students, regardless of their age or background, within a caring and supportive environment.
With 34% of students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Bowraville Central School has an AEO and additional Aboriginal teaching and non-teaching staff who are integral in supporting our students. As a K-12 comprehensive public school, we cater for all local enrolments, supported by the establishment of three MC classes, the learning and engagement hub, and a rich array of cultural programs. In Secondary, we have moved to a staged learning model, with classes taught by two teachers in a co-teaching model. All classes K-10 have a School Learning and Support Officer full time to further support learning.
The school has a support unit of 3 classes catering for students with a variety of diagnoses, including IM, IO, ED, MC, and AU. The school offers extension and enrichment, transition and literacy support classes to promote the academic advancement of students, while strong wellbeing, sports, arts, and student representative programs contribute to the holistic educational experiences of students at Bowraville Central School.
Bowraville Central School is a Connected Communities School.
