Stadiums Queensland is responsible for the management and operation of some of Queensland's most iconic sporting and entertainment venues, delivering amazing experiences for millions of visitors each year. As Queensland prepares for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Stadiums Queensland will play a critical role in supporting the infrastructure investment, venue development and operational readiness required to deliver a world-class event and lasting legacy.

Against this backdrop of significant growth and transformation, this is an opportunity to lead the organisation's strategic financial capability, influence key investment decisions and contribute to its long-term financial sustainability and strategic direction. As Head of Strategic Finance, you will lead budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, providing commercially focused advice to senior management, the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and the Board. Reporting directly to the Group Executive, Finance and Corporate Services, you will work alongside the Financial Controller, with a distinct focus on forward planning, business performance and strategic decision-making. This is a newly created, permanent, full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual budget process and ongoing forecasting, supporting operational priorities and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and analysis that helps leaders understand revenue and cost drivers, assess opportunities and manage financial risks.
  • Oversee long-term financial planning, including the interpretation and development of forecasts extending up to 20 years.
  • Prepare clear, insightful reporting for the Board, its committees and Government Estimates processes.
  • Develop performance measures, trend analysis and practical recommendations to improve business decisions.
  • Build effective partnerships across corporate teams, venues and external stakeholders, including Queensland Treasury and the administering department.

About You

You are a highly accomplished, commercially astute finance leader who brings strong strategic judgement, business acumen and the confidence to influence at an executive level. More than a traditional finance professional, you are a trusted commercial adviser who understands the drivers of business performance, challenges conventional thinking and translates complex financial information into strategic insights that inform investment decisions and deliver sustainable outcomes.

You thrive in complex, commercially focused environments where financial strategy, operational performance and long-term investment intersect. With a proven ability to establish and enhance strategic finance capability, you bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach and the credibility to partner with senior executives, challenge assumptions and influence organisational direction.

You will possess:

  • Significant senior finance leadership experience, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications, with a strong track record in commercially focused and complex operating environments.
  • Extensive expertise in strategic financial management, commercial analysis, business planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, including evaluating investment opportunities, assessing financial risks, developing business cases and delivering insights that drive business performance.
  • Proven ability to influence executive decision-making, challenge assumptions and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders through commercially sound advice.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with the ability to establish strategic finance functions, enhance decision-support frameworks and balance strategic priorities with operational delivery.
  • CA or CPA qualifications and financial modelling skills will be highly regarded.

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape a new strategic finance function and contribute to the future of some of Queensland's most iconic venues. Travel to venues and some work outside normal business hours may be required.

Applications close at 5pm, Monday 16th of November, 2026.
