Greet patients and visitors in a warm, respectful and professional manner.
Answer phone calls, respond to enquiries and direct calls appropriately.
Manage appointment bookings, cancellations and changes using the practice appointment system.
Maintain accurate patient records and update personal, Medicare and billing details.
Process payments, Medicare claims, EFTPOS transactions and invoices in line with practice policy.
Scan, file and distribute documents, correspondence and clinical information accurately.
Liaise with doctors, nurses, allied health providers and external organisations as required.
Maintain patient confidentiality and follow practice policies and procedures at all times.
Support the smooth running of the reception area and assist with general administration duties.
About you
- Previous medical reception or healthcare administration experience required with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, compassionate approach with patients.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy workload.
- Confidence using computers, email and practice management software.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of Medicare, billing processes and medical terminology will be highly regarded.
