DuBois Chemicals Australia is part of DuBois Chemicals Inc., a global specialty chemicals and process solutions provider that has served customers since 1920 and has operated in Australia since 2018. From our Dandenong South site, we blend and supply specialty cleaning and process chemistry across industries including food and beverage, carwash, janitorial, and surface treatment, backed by a team known for deep industry knowledge and close customer partnership. As we grow our operational maturity, we are investing in the systems, people, and engineering capability to support that growth.

We are looking for a hands-on Plant Engineer to take ownership of plant reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement at our Dandenong South facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be the site's engineering resource, responsible for building and running a preventative maintenance program from the ground up, driving process and efficiency improvements, and delivering practical plant safety upgrades.

This is a rare opportunity for a graduate or early-career engineer to take real ownership of a plant engineering function, build a CMMS and maintenance system from scratch, and see the direct impact of your work every day, with the full support and mentorship of an experienced Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS), including the equipment register, preventative maintenance schedules, and work orders
  • Lead troubleshooting and breakdown response to maximise machine uptime and reliability
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement projects covering process flow, machine efficiency, and output
  • Manage maintenance contractors, including inductions, permits, and safe work compliance
  • Deliver plant safety improvements, including machine guarding upgrades, and assist in implementing the plant safety action plan
  • Manage compliance requirements, including equipment calibration and annual racking inspections
  • Manage site waste storage, collection, and compliant disposal
  • Identify critical spare parts and ensure availability for planned maintenance and breakdowns
  • Support workplace health and safety, including inspections and timely rectification of hazards
  • Ensure adherence to work procedures and systems in accordance with relevant Australian Standards
  • Implement project works to minimise or avoid plant downtime
  • Personnel management responsibilities for the maintenance team
  • Maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as required

About You

You are a recent mechanical (or chemical) engineering graduate, or have up to around a year of industry experience, with a genuine drive to learn and a strong sense of ownership over your work. You are comfortable working closely with an experienced Plant Manager who will mentor and guide you, while being proactive enough to take initiative and follow jobs through to completion.

Essential:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chemical Engineering also considered)
  • A sound grasp of mechanical or process troubleshooting fundamentals, from study, practical experience, or up to a year in industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with data

Desirable:

  • Any exposure to maintenance, plant, or manufacturing environments (placements, vacation work, or a first role)
  • Familiarity with machine guarding and machinery safety standards (e.g. AS 4024)

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to learn and grow with direct, hands-on mentorship from an experienced Plant Manager
  • Broad, hands-on scope spanning maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement
  • A close-knit team where you'll work directly with operators and the leadership team
  • A stable, full-time role in a growing manufacturing operation

Applications for this role close at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2026. We do not provide sponsorship or support provisional or temporary Visa holders; therefore, you must have the legal right to live and work permanently in Australia.
