Melbourne Full-Time On-site

Want to spend more time delivering great IT projects and less time working through a helpdesk queue?

DSP IT Solutions is looking for an experienced IT Project Engineer who enjoys taking ownership, working directly with customers and delivering technology solutions that make a genuine difference to their businesses.

This isn't a traditional helpdesk role.

You'll have the opportunity to own projects from initial planning and solution design through to implementation and handover, working with a broad range of Microsoft, cloud, infrastructure and cybersecurity technologies.

You'll also have the freedom to identify better ways of doing things. If you see an opportunity to improve a customer's environment, we want you to raise it, design the solution and help make it happen.

About DSP IT

DSP IT Solutions is a well-established Managed Service Provider based in Cranbourne.

For more than 30 years, we've helped organisations across Australia with IT support, Microsoft 365, cloud, cybersecurity, infrastructure and technology strategy.

We're big enough to work with great technology and deliver interesting projects, but small enough that your contribution matters.

We believe good IT is about more than fixing problems. It's about understanding our customers, building strong relationships and finding practical ways technology can help their organisations operate better.

We're continuing to grow and are looking for an experienced engineer who shares that approach.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll take responsibility for delivering customer projects from start to finish, including:

  • Leading and delivering IT infrastructure and cloud projects
  • Designing and implementing Microsoft 365 and Azure solutions
  • Delivering Exchange, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint migrations
  • Deploying and configuring Sophos cybersecurity solutions
  • Undertaking infrastructure, server and networking projects
  • Working directly with customers to understand their requirements
  • Identifying opportunities to improve customer environments
  • Helping scope and design new solutions and projects
  • Preparing technical recommendations and assisting with quotations
  • Providing occasional Level 2/3 escalation support where your expertise is needed
  • Maintaining clear project and technical documentation
  • Ensuring projects are completed professionally and successfully handed over

Most importantly, you'll be trusted to take ownership and get things done.

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically capable but also comfortable talking to customers.

You’ll probably already have solid experience working within an MSP and understand the difference between simply completing a technical task and delivering a great customer outcome.

Ideally, you bring:

  • Proven experience delivering IT projects within an MSP environment
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration and deployment experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Exchange and SharePoint migrations
  • Experience with Sophos products and cybersecurity solutions
  • Strong networking, server and infrastructure knowledge
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to work directly with customers
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Microsoft, Azure or Sophos certifications would be highly regarded, as would experience with PSA and RMM platforms and working with Not-for-Profit organisations

Just as importantly...

You don't need to know absolutely everything.

We're looking for someone who is curious, accountable and comfortable taking ownership. Someone who enjoys solving problems, learning new technology and leaving a customer's environment better than they found it.

Recognised and Rewarded for Identifying Opportunities

Good engineers often spot opportunities before anyone else.

You might recognise that a customer's Microsoft 365 environment could be better secured, an ageing server needs replacing, a migration would simplify their environment, or a technology change could eliminate an ongoing problem.

At DSP IT, we want you to bring those ideas forward.

In addition to your salary package, you'll have the opportunity to earn commission on eligible project opportunities you identify and help us secure.

You're not joining us to become a salesperson. You're being rewarded for giving customers good advice and recognising opportunities where technology can genuinely improve their business.

Why Join DSP IT?

  • Competitive salary package
  • Additional sales commission opportunities
  • Hybrid working options for the right candidate
  • Birthday leave
  • Company laptop and mobile phone
  • Ongoing professional development and training
  • Friendly, experienced and supportive team
  • Variety of customers, projects and technologies
  • Genuine ownership of the projects you deliver
  • Opportunity to influence technical solutions and recommendations
  • Work locally in Cranbourne and avoid the daily Melbourne CBD commute

And because we’re an established MSP rather than a large corporate IT department, you’ll have the opportunity to see the direct impact of the work you do.

Ready for Your Next Move?

If you’re an experienced MSP engineer who’s ready to spend more time owning projects, working directly with customers and delivering great technology outcomes, we’d like to hear from you.

You might be an experienced Project Engineer already, or a strong Level 3 Engineer who’s ready to take the next step into greater project ownership.

Come and build the next stage of your career with DSP IT Solutions.
