Are you passionate about creating workplaces where people genuinely put safety first? Drac Mechanical is looking for a practical, proactive and engaging HSE Officer to join our team in Pakenham. Working across our manufacturing facility, operational activities and project environments, you’ll help turn OHS expectations into safe, everyday practices.
Reporting to the HSE Manager, this is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll spend time on the floor and across sites, engaging with employees and leaders, identifying risks, supporting investigations and strengthening our HSE systems. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage safety from behind a desk. We’re looking for someone who can build trust, ask the right questions and work alongside our people to find practical solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct workplace inspections, site visits and internal audits
- Engage with employees and leaders to promote a proactive safety culture
- Identify hazards and support the development of practical risk controls
- Assist with risk assessments, SWMS and safe work procedures
- Support incident, injury, hazard and near-miss investigations
- Track corrective and preventative actions through to completion
- Coordinate employee and contractor OHS inductions
- Maintain training, competency, licence and qualification records
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities
- Maintain accurate HSE records, registers, policies and procedures
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports, dashboards and trend analysis
- Support occupational health monitoring, injury management and return-to-work activities
- Assist with environmental compliance, records and corrective actions
The role supports Drac’s compliance with Victorian OHS requirements, including maintaining safe systems of work, monitoring workplace conditions, providing appropriate information and training, and consulting with employees about matters that may affect their health and safety.
What You’ll Bring
- A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or a willingness to obtain it
- At least two years’ experience in an OHS, manufacturing, construction or operational environment
- A sound understanding of Victorian OHS legislation and risk management principles
- Experience supporting workplace inspections, incident investigations and risk assessments
- The confidence to communicate with employees, subcontractors and leaders at all levels
- Strong report-writing, analytical and administrative skills
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- A current and valid driver’s licence
- Experience with ISO management systems, HSE software or digital reporting platforms will be highly regarded.
Why Join Drac?
- Work across a diverse manufacturing and project-based environment
- Take on a role with genuine variety, visibility and influence
- Receive mentoring and development from an experienced HSE Manager
- Build practical experience across OHS, injury management, compliance and environmental activities
- Join a growing business where you can help improve systems and shape safety practices
