About the Role
This is an opportunity to play an important role in supporting the successful transition of complex capability into sustainment and operational environments. As a Transition Officer, you will work closely with the Transition Lead and multidisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate and deliver capability transition activities. Working across engineering, logistics, commercial and sustainment functions, you will help bring together the information, people and activities required to keep transition outcomes moving forward. You’ll operate with a level of autonomy, using initiative and sound judgement to gather and analyse information, coordinate stakeholders, maintain transition products and identify emerging risks, issues and dependencies.
What You’ll Do
Working across project teams and stakeholder groups, you will support transition planning and delivery by coordinating activities, information and dependencies across engineering, logistics, commercial and sustainment functions. You will develop and maintain transition plans, schedules, action registers, reports and supporting documentation, while monitoring progress and identifying activities requiring additional engineering or cross‑functional input. You’ll coordinate stakeholder actions, follow up deliverables and help maintain momentum against key milestones. The role will also see you facilitate workshops and working groups, prepare concise briefings and management reports, and contribute to investigations, analysis and continuous improvement activities that support effective transition and sustainment outcomes.
About You
You are a motivated and highly organised professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex activities and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. You are comfortable dealing with information from multiple sources, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders and turning complex or dispersed information into clear, practical outputs. You will ideally bring:
- Experience supporting capability transition, change, implementation, project coordination or similar activities.
- Experience developing and maintaining plans, schedules, action registers, reports and project documentation.
- Strong stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and influence outcomes through consultation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, including the ability to bring together information from multiple sources.
- An ability to identify and monitor risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of briefings, reports and presentations.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Initiative and sound professional judgement when working with moderate autonomy.
Qualifications
You will hold a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant discipline, a bachelor degree in areas such as Business, Project Management, Management, Information Management, Logistics, Engineering or Information Technology, or bring demonstrated equivalent experience from a Defence, Government, industry or complex operational environment.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience within Defence, Government or another regulated environment would be highly regarded, particularly exposure to:
- Capability transition, implementation or change management.
- Sustainment or service delivery.
- Engineering, logistics, maintenance or operational support.
- PMO or project coordination.
- Business analysis or information management.
- Document control and reporting.
- Process and continuous improvement activities.
