Domestic Violence Prevention Centre – Southport QLD

The Domestic Violence Prevention Centre (DVPC) is a specialist service supporting women, children and young people impacted by domestic and family violence. Guided by our values of safety, respect, inclusivity and accountability, our work is informed by feminist principles, a strong commitment to social justice, and an understanding of domestic and family violence as a gendered issue.

For more than 30 years, we have worked alongside individuals, families and communities to improve safety, strengthen outcomes and create meaningful change. Through the delivery of specialist services and relentless advocacy for systemic reform, we are committed to addressing the impacts of domestic and family violence while working towards a future where all people can live free from violence.

We are seeking a Finance Officer to join our team and support the financial functions that underpin our services. This role offers the opportunity to contribute your skills in a supportive, values-driven organisation where your work helps ensure our services continue to meet the needs of the community.

About the role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer plays an important role in supporting the financial functions that underpin DVPC's services and operations.

The role supports a broad range of activities including payroll coordination, financial administration, accounts processing, reconciliations and reporting. Working closely with colleagues and external service providers, you will help maintain effective systems, support informed decision-making, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the finance function.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both the detail and the bigger picture. Someone who values accuracy, organisation and continuous improvement, while building positive relationships and working collaboratively with others to support DVPC's mission and the people and communities we serve.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of finance services across the organisation, including payroll coordination, financial administration and reporting activities.
  • Coordinate and process financial transactions, reconciliations and associated finance activities in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external service providers to support effective financial systems, processes and service delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, audits, funding acquittals and other finance-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to compliance with legislative, contractual and organisational requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide responsive and professional support to managers and staff on finance-related matters.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and values-driven workplace culture aligned with DVPC's mission, vision and values.

About you

You are someone who values both accuracy and relationships. You bring strong finance capability, a collaborative approach and a commitment to supporting the work of others. You thrive in environments where trust, accountability and teamwork matter, and where your contribution helps support meaningful outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Experience in finance, bookkeeping, payroll or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of financial administration, accounts processing, reconciliations and reporting practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with financial systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to build positive and productive relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Professional judgement, discretion and a commitment to managing information appropriately.
  • A commitment to working collaboratively and contributing positively to team and organisational culture.
  • Alignment with DVPC's values and an appreciation of feminist principles, social justice and the role specialist services play in creating safer communities.

What we offer

  • Flexible working arrangements and hours to support your circumstances
  • A dynamic workplace that values innovation and quality practice
  • A trauma-informed, supportive work environment with a commitment to staff wellbeing
  • Competitive salary with salary packaging benefits
  • 5 weeks annual leave
  • 12 weeks parental leave
  • Career diversity and growth opportunities
  • Professional development opportunities to grow your practice
  • Employee Assistance Program

Salary and classification level under the SCHADS Award will be negotiated based on skills, qualifications, and experience. A 12-month fixed-term contract will be offered to the successful applicant with a potential opportunity to extend.

DVPC is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people with lived experience.
