Doherty Couplers & Attachments Ltd – Wacol QLD

Doherty Couplers & Attachments design and manufacture hydraulic excavator attachments β€” quick couplers, tilt couplers, buckets and specialist hydraulic equipment used across construction, civil and resources industries throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our Australian assembly operations are headquartered at Wacol in Brisbane, with branches in Melbourne and south-west Sydney.

Our purpose is straightforward: help customers get more from their machines through the right attachment, real-world know-how and dependable support. Every role in the business contributes to that directly β€” and this one is no exception.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a practical, switched-on Storeperson to own dispatch and the warehouse at our Brisbane assembly facility. When a completed attachment leaves this site, it needs to be right.

This is a hands-on, end-to-end role. You'll coordinate every outbound shipment, book and manage the freight, keep our stock figures accurate, receipt goods in when dispatch allows, and make sure every attachment is checked and complete before it ships.

We're not looking for someone to follow a task list. We need someone who notices what's going on, thinks ahead, spots mistakes before they become customer problems, and takes personal ownership of the warehouse and everything that moves through it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Coordinate all outbound dispatch of attachments and parts to customers across Australia

Book and manage freight carriers β€” select the right transport for attachment size, weight and destination

Prepare all dispatch documentation β€” delivery dockets, freight labels, consignment notes

Pack, protect, strap and secure attachments properly before they leave the facility

Track shipments and follow up on delays, damage claims and delivery failures

Never dispatch an attachment without QA sign-off from the Workshop Manager

Inwards Goods & Stock

Receive, unload and check inbound deliveries against purchase orders β€” quantity, part number and condition

Receipt goods into our ERP system accurately and promptly

Quarantine and flag anything damaged, incorrect or non-conforming straight away

Keep stock records and locations accurate β€” no mystery stock, no unreceipted deliveries

Run cycle counts and support monthly and annual stocktakes

Check every item against its paperwork, sales order and serial number before it ships

Plant, Facility & Standards

Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and within load limits

Load and unload containers and trucks using correct lifting practice

Keep the warehouse, dispatch area and yard clean, safe and organised

Support 5S standards and report facility or plant issues promptly

Help customers, sales staff and field service with parts and dispatch enquiries

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

Experience in a warehouse, stores or manufacturing receiving and dispatch role

Accurate and systematic β€” counts correctly, checks part numbers, doesn't rush at the expense of accuracy

Comfortable using computers β€” stock systems, email and basic admin tools

Physically capable of manual handling, packing and loading within safe limits

Practical and product-aware β€” at home around heavy equipment and able to tell one part from another

Reliable, punctual and happy with a 6:00am start

Preferred

Experience in construction equipment, attachments or industrial machinery

Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems

Experience with freight coordination and carrier management

Experience dispatching oversize, heavy or palletised freight

You’ll suit this role if you’re accurate under pressure, take pride in a clean and organised facility, communicate proactively when something isn’t right, and understand that getting the right product to the right customer β€” on time and complete β€” is what the job is really about.

Straightforward: You communicate clearly, deal with issues directly, and don't let problems sit.

Reliable: You show up, follow through, and can be trusted with stock, customers and company standards.

Practical: You're comfortable with machinery and physical work β€” and can spot when something doesn't look right.

Team-minded: You help outside your own task list and understand your role affects the whole operation.

Detail-focused: Accuracy in receiving, stock records and dispatch documentation is non-negotiable.

WHY JOIN US

A defined, end-to-end role with real ownership β€” not just a pick-and-pack position

A growing business in a specialist industrial niche with a strong product reputation

Stable, full-time hours with an early finish

Variety β€” dispatch, freight, stock control and plant operation in the one role

Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience

A team that values reliability, practicality and people who take pride in their work

Our entire team live by our four core values - Deliver what we promise, Exceed expectations, Attitude (be part of the solution), and Love what we do. If you believe in these values, then you’ll fit right in.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We assess candidates on capability and attitude, not background. If you're technically excellent and customer-focused, we want to hear from you.

Note:Applicants for this position MUST have Australian residency or a valid Australian work visa.
