This position is suited to an experienced Building Estimator who is confident managing the estimating and tendering process for both residential and commercial building projects.
The successful candidate will be based in Perth, working closely with our Directors, Project Managers and Construction Managers to prepare accurate, competitive and comprehensive estimates for construction projects throughout regional Western Australia.
Key responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for residential and commercial construction projects.
Review architectural drawings, structural engineering plans, specifications and tender documentation.
Complete accurate material take-offs, quantity measurements and construction cost estimates.
Prepare and issue requests for quotations to subcontractors and suppliers.
Assess and compare subcontractor quotations to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing.
Prepare bills of quantities, trade breakdowns and detailed cost summaries.
Identify discrepancies, exclusions, potential variations and commercial risks within tender documentation.
Allow for regional construction costs, including freight, travel, accommodation, labour and subcontractor availability.
Assist with tender clarifications, value management and construction methodology reviews.
Liaise with management and the construction team throughout the tendering process.
About you
A minimum of 5 years' experience estimating residential and/or commercial building projects in Australia.
Demonstrated experience preparing detailed building estimates and competitive tender submissions.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, trades and subcontractor pricing.
Proficiency in Buildxact estimating software will be highly regarded.
Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and contractual documentation.
Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tenders and meet submission deadlines.
Experience estimating regional Western Australian construction projects will be highly regarded.
