We are an independently owned and operated, stand-alone early childhood service in Thrumster, proudly connected to the local community.

Why work at Discovery?

  • An Exceeding-rated service: Join a team that has been recognised as Exceeding the National Quality Standard across all seven Quality Areas.
  • Locally owned and operated: We value genuine relationships, connection to our community and having leadership that is present, accessible and involved in the day-to-day operation of the centre.
  • We are committed to staffing above ratio: Our commitment to staffing above minimum educator-to-child ratios provides greater support across our rooms and helps create a more positive environment for both children and educators.
  • A strong, experienced team: You’ll work alongside qualified and experienced educators, Room Leaders, our Educational Leader and leadership team in a culture that values collaboration, reflection and professional growth.

  • Engaging learning environments: Our indoor and outdoor environments are thoughtfully developed to support children’s curiosity, independence, creativity and connection with their world.
  • A centre connected to its community: Community involvement is an important part of Discovery.

About the role

As a Diploma-qualified Educator at Discovery, you will work collaboratively with your room team to provide high-quality education and care while building strong, respectful relationships with children and families. You will:

  • A sound understanding of the EYLF and National Quality Standard.
  • A genuine commitment to high-quality, relationship-based practice.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A professional, reliable and collaborative approach.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • Current approved First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtain/maintain these as required.
  • Completed required National Child Safety Training, or willingness to meet applicable training requirements.

Our commitment to child safety

At Discovery, the safety, wellbeing and rights of children are paramount. We are committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, respected, heard and included. All educators are expected to actively contribute to our child safe culture, understand their responsibilities and demonstrate safe professional practice every day. Employment with Discovery is subject to our child safe recruitment and screening processes, including Working with Children Check verification, reference checks and other pre-employment requirements relevant to the position.
