This is a commercial role for someone who understands that real growth in agriculture happens through innovation, trust, and partnerships.
We’re Goanna Ag www.goannaag.com.au, an Australian ag-tech company helping growers and agribusiness partners turn better data into better on-farm decisions. We have a position available for a Commercial Manager to drive growth through both direct sales and strategic partnerships.
This role sits at the intersection of technology, agronomy, sales, and collaboration.
What you’ll actually do
Be a partner to some of Australia’s leading ag-tech practitioners and progressive farmers to identify value, demonstrate solutions, and close deals.
Demo the software that turns raw field data into “aha!” insights for growers.
Installing and maintaining on-farm monitoring gear.
Develop the skills to confidently sell our products and solutions.
Represent Goanna Ag at industry events, trials, and field activities
Help shape the future of ag-tech for our customers and our company
And yes, always follow safety protocols (hi-vis is your new black).
You’ll spend time in paddocks, in partner meetings, and in commercial discussions — often in the same day.
About you
You’re commercially minded, but you speak agriculture fluently.
You likely bring:
- 2+ years’ experience in agronomy, ag retail, ag-tech, or agricultural sales
- Comfort owning revenue targets and growth outcomes
- The ability to sell consultatively — value first, product second
- Strong communication skills with growers, advisers, and commercial stakeholders
- A pragmatic, resilient approach (you understand seasonal and operational realities)
- Equal parts curious about crops and tech.
- Love the outdoors, not afraid of a bit of travel, dust, or a dodgy servo coffee.
- Solid communicator (if you can explain Wi‑Fi to your nan, you’ll be fine).
- Resilient, pragmatic and logical
- You don’t need to be a polished corporate seller — credibility and judgement matter more.
What will set you up for success
- You’re comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership
- You enjoy building something, not just maintaining it
- You’re curious about how technology can genuinely improve farm decisions
- You’re willing to travel and be present where decisions are made
- You hold a current driver’s licence
Who this role is not for
- Prefer highly structured, desk-based roles with tight scripts and processes
- Are uncomfortable with sales accountability or commercial targets
- Want to sell a product without understanding how it fits a farming system
- Expect a large support team to do the groundwork for you
Why this role is worth your time
- The chance to build long-term partnerships, not just transactions
- A product range with real on-farm credibility and impact
- Competitive salary plus incentives aligned to commercial outcomes
- Company vehicle and travel support
- A pathway into broader commercial or leadership responsibility as the company scales
