Discover and Learn Academy is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Trainee - Certificate III in Children's Services. This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about working with children and making a positive impact in their early years development. Based in Heatherbrae NSW 2324, this is a full-time position that combines practical, hands-on experience with accredited vocational training. You will work alongside experienced educators in a supportive learning environment, gaining the essential skills and qualifications needed for a rewarding career in childcare and outside school hours care. Key responsibilities
Assist qualified educators in supervising and engaging children in play-based learning activities
Support the implementation of educational programmes and daily routines that foster children's development and wellbeing
Help create and maintain safe, clean and welcoming learning environments suitable for children of various age groups
Contribute to positive relationships with children, families and team members
Assist with personal care routines including feeding, toileting and hygiene practices
Support the planning and preparation of activities that promote cognitive, physical, social and emotional development
Observe and document children's progress and communicate observations to supervisors and parents
Complete assigned theory work and assignments as part of your Certificate III qualification
Comply with all relevant childcare policies, procedures and legislative requirements
What we're looking for
To uphold our commitment to child safety, all workers and volunteers at our service must
Be suitable to work with children, demonstrate a commitment to children's rights, wellbeing and protection. Genuine passion for working with children and commitment to their safety and wellbeing
Minimum Year 10 or equivalent educational qualification (or willingness to undertake bridging studies if required)
Complete all required Gecko training relevant to their role, including mandatory modules and any required refresher training
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
Ability to follow instructions, take direction and engage in continuous learning
Patience, empathy and a positive attitude towards supporting children's development
Current or willingness to obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance
Basic literacy and numeracy skills to support completion of Certificate III coursework
Reliability and commitment to attending all scheduled shifts and training sessions
Prior experience working with children or in customer service roles is beneficial but not essential
