About us

Disability Driving Centre (DDC) is a specialist vehicle modification workshop in Chatswood, part of the Total Ability group. We fit adaptive driving controls and vehicle modifications that help people with disability drive and travel independently. We work with clients, their families and occupational therapists, and with an installer network across Australia.

About the role

If you've worked the service desk at a dealership or independent workshop, you already have most of what this role needs. You know how to run a booking diary, manage drop-offs and handovers, keep customers informed and keep the workshop moving. At DDC you'll do all of that for customers whose vehicle is often the key to their independence.

You'll be the first point of contact for our clients, and the person who keeps the front counter and office running smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Answer phones and enquiries, and greet walk‑in customers
  • Manage workshop bookings, scheduling and job cards
  • Handle vehicle drop-offs, handovers and customer updates
  • Invoice jobs in Workshop Software
  • Handle sales enquiries as your product knowledge grows
  • Keep returns, warranty and repair records up to date
  • Receive deliveries, order supplies, and keep reception and the office organised
  • Help with parts dispatch and simple product demonstrations once trained

How this differs from a dealership service desk

  • Every vehicle and every customer is different. No two jobs are the same.
  • You'll have time to look after customers properly. Many are people with disability, family members or therapists working through an important decision.
  • You'll learn specialist adaptive driving products from the ground up, with structured training.
  • You'll join a small team where your organisation and follow‑through make a visible difference.

About you

  • Service adviser, service desk or automotive front counter experience (strongly preferred)
  • Friendly, patient and composed on the phone and face to face
  • Highly organised, and someone who finishes what they start
  • Confident with computers and booking or workshop systems
  • Looking for a long‑term role and keen to keep learning

Nice to have

  • Experience with Workshop Software, Xero or similar systems
  • Disability, NDIS or allied health experience
  • A current driver's licence
  • Lived experience of disability is welcomed

The details

  • Full‑time, on site in Chatswood (no working from home)
  • 4 days a week considered to start; Wednesdays and Fridays are essential
  • $70,000–$80,000 plus super, depending on experience
  • Some lifting of parcels and stock
