The opportunity
A well-regarded national law firm is growing its Brisbane insurance practice and has Legal Assistant roles open in two teams:
- Medical and health claims: supporting lawyers acting for hospitals, medical practitioners and their insurers in negligence, professional indemnity and regulatory matters
- Public liability: supporting lawyers defending personal injury, property damage and liability claims for insurers and their clients
Each role supports a small group of solicitors at different levels. You’ll be central to how the team runs.
What you’ll do
- Open, maintain and close electronic files
- Run monthly billing, debtor follow-up and reporting
- Draft and send correspondence, and arrange court filings
- Prepare briefs to counsel, medical and other experts
- Manage diaries, appointments and travel
- Keep matters moving in line with client service standards
What you’ll bring
- At least 1 year experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in a law firm, ideally in insurance litigation or personal injury (plaintiff or defendant)
- Confidence with practice management, billing and document management systems, and working from precedents
- Sharp attention to detail and pride in getting things right
- A proactive approach: you see what needs doing and do it
- Good communication skills and an easy way of working with lawyers and colleagues
