At Dimensions, we believe in supporting people to live the life they choose. Guided by our values of Ambition, Respect, Courage, Integrity, and Partnership, we work alongside people with learning disabilities and autistic people to enable independence, inclusion, and opportunity.
In Ipswich, you'll be supporting three gentlemen in their 30s who communicate visually through body language, facial expressions, symbols, and pictures. Each person has their own personality, interests, and support needs, and you'll take the time to understand how they communicate, make choices, and express themselves.
The gentlemen lead active and sociable lives and they like their week to include bowling, football, cinema trips, swimming, and local discos. A key part of this role is supporting people to access the things that are important to them, build confidence, and maintain connections within their community.
Swimming is an essential part of this role. You must be confident and comfortable in the water, as you will be required to get into the swimming pool to provide 1:1 support. This is a non-negotiable requirement and a vital aspect of supporting one of the gentlemen to participate in a hobby that is important to him.
You'll promote independence while providing full support with personal care, always maintaining dignity, respect, and choice. You'll also support with medication administration, meal preparation, household tasks, and daily routines.
We are looking for someone who is confident in the kitchen and enjoys cooking. You'll be preparing a wide variety of meals based on individual preferences and dietary requirements. The ability to cook independently and adapt meals to suit different needs is essential.
A full UK driving licence is required, and you must be comfortable driving an automatic vehicle. While not essential, it would be advantageous if you have access to your own car, as only one of the people we support has their own vehicle available.
Shifts include: 7am-10pm, 7am-2:30pm, and 2:30pm-10pm, across Monday-Sunday. You'll work every other weekend and complete at least one sleep-in shift per week, which may be at this home or another nearby home depending on operational needs. Flexibility is important, as you may occasionally be asked to support at other Dimensions homes within the Ipswich area when required.
There's no single type of Support Worker at Dimensions. Our teams include school leavers, people changing careers, experienced support workers and those returning to work or looking to give back to their community. What matters is your values and a genuine desire to help someone live a full and meaningful life. Full training is provided, so you don't need previous experience to succeed in this role.
A competitive pay rate with uplift for overtime you choose to work, flexible shift patterns to suit your needs, 30 days paid Annual Leave (including public holidays - pro rata), opportunities for career progression, a salary advance scheme where you can access up to 50% of the money you've earned before payday, High Street Discounts - Retail and Entertainment (supermarkets, hospitality, pubs, cinema etc.), Life Assurance and Company Pension, industry leading training, and enhanced DBS paid for by us.
If you use assistive technology or require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, we are committed to supporting you where we can. Please let us know in advance so we can ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
