An established electrical and technology services contractor is looking for an AV Pre-Sales Engineer to join its team in Melbourne. This is an opportunity for a technically minded professional with experience in audiovisual systems to play a key role in developing tailored solutions for commercial clients. Working closely with the sales, project delivery and technical teams, you will help translate client requirements into practical, cost-effective AV solutions, supporting projects from initial consultation and system design through to tender submission and handover.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness and the ability to communicate complex solutions clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with clients and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and develop suitable audiovisual solutions.
- Prepare AV system designs, equipment specifications, technical proposals and tender documentation.
- Develop accurate project estimates, bills of materials and equipment schedules.
- Review drawings, project specifications and tender packages to identify scope requirements, risks and opportunities.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain product information, pricing and technical support.
- Support the sales team with technical presentations, client meetings and solution recommendations.
- Ensure proposed solutions meet relevant project specifications, budget expectations and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to support a smooth transition from pre-sales into project delivery.
- Keep up to date with AV technologies, industry developments and emerging solutions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in AV pre-sales, AV estimating, audiovisual system design or a similar technical role.
- Knowledge of commercial AV systems, including meeting room technology, displays, audio systems, video conferencing and control solutions.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Experience preparing quotations, bills of materials, equipment schedules and technical proposals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
- A commercially minded approach, with an understanding of project costs, budgets and delivery requirements.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders or opportunities concurrently.
