Join Transport and Main Roads as a PO3 Designer (Civil) in Rockhampton and contribute to planning & design projects that support Queensland’s transport infrastructure program. Working within the Technical Services team, you will develop & review civil design models, provide technical advice, assess design options & support projects through planning, development & delivery.
You will also review consultant documentation, work closely with stakeholders & help strengthen local capability in 12d Model and AutoCAD. This permanent, flexible full-time role offers varied project work, professional development and the opportunity to influence transport outcomes across Central Queensland.
The Opportunity: This role combines hands-on civil design work with technical problem-solving, project coordination and stakeholder engagement. You will develop and review transport infrastructure designs, investigate practical design options and help ensure projects meet relevant standards, timeframes, budgets, quality requirements and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and quantify transport infrastructure design models across the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical advice on transport infrastructure planning and design.
- Investigate, analyse and develop design options that meet project objectives.
- Manage and deliver key components of planning and design work.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant policies, standards, guidelines and legislation.
- Review drawings and documentation prepared by external design consultants.
- Support and guide colleagues in using 12d Model and AutoCAD.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to address project needs and issues.
What You Will Bring: You will hold a minimum three-year Sydney Accord accredited engineering degree, such as a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil), or recognised equivalent, together with a current Class C driver licence. Proficiency in 12d Model and AutoCAD, relevant experience in transport infrastructure planning and design and a general construction induction card are desirable.
You will also bring sound professional judgement, accountability, collaborative stakeholder skills and the ability to apply project management, governance and risk management principles to infrastructure projects.
