This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027. Norseman District High School (NDHS) is a Level 5 District High School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our school has a rich history that stretches back to its inaugural opening in 1896. The traditional owners, the Ngadju people, have a broad understanding of the land, a passionate culture and are wonderful supporters of the school. Our relatively low student numbers allow our quality and passionate staff opportunities to individualise the curriculum to meet the children’s needs. There is a wonderful balance of staff from beginning teachers to experienced staff who value working collaboratively and building a positive staff culture.
The Role: As a valued member of our school community, you should be a relationship‐focused educator who prioritises strong connections with students, colleagues, and families. With a genuine belief in the Teaching for Impact principles, you would ideally commit to practices that make a measurable difference to student learning and wellbeing. You should embrace our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) culture and actively contribute to creating a calm, consistent, and supportive learning environment.
We are ideally seeking a passionate Secondary Generalist Teacher who has the passion and confidence to coordinate our School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) program. This involves working with students in Years 10-12 in close collaboration with the Deputy Principal Secondary to provide a positive and supportive learning environment for our Senior Secondary students. As part of the role, you will assist students select courses, help students to set attainable goals across their areas of study and support students in their day to day learning.
You should use your pedagogical expertise to engage students, foster curiosity, and support high achievement, including opportunities for both extension and enrichment. The successful applicant should ideally be innovative, student‐centred, and eager to collaborate as part of a professional and committed team. You should reflect regularly on your practice, use evidence to inform your decisions, and differentiate to meet the diverse needs of students. Your ability to build positive, respectful relationships and create safe, inclusive learning experiences will be key to supporting all students to succeed.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly, happy, and supportive school where both staff and students strive for continuous improvement. Your strong communication, interpersonal skills, and willingness to contribute to our positive school culture will be valued as we work together to shape bright futures for our students.
