Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
As a critical service within the Western Australian public education system, SIDE supports students across the state to remain connected to learning, regardless of location, health, wellbeing, or personal circumstances. Guided by our values of Connection, Courage, Equity, Creativity and Compassion, our vision is to expand learning opportunities for Western Australian students through inclusive, culturally responsive and student-centred educational programs.
The School Psychologist plays a critical role within SIDE’s Referrals program, supporting students with complex mental health, physical health and special circumstance enrolments. Working as a key conduit between families, students, their current school and SIDE, the School Psychologist provides consultation, case formulation, risk management, and enrolment advice to ensure students receive the most appropriate educational support.
As part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Student Support Coordinators (Youth Workers), Regional Coordinators (Teachers), Middle Leaders and the Deputy Principal, Student and School Services, the School Psychologist supports student wellbeing, engagement and learning outcomes through evidence-based practice. This includes working closely with teachers to implement appropriate adjustments and supporting students and families to navigate educational pathways, transitions and re-engagement with schooling.
The role involves direct work with Kindergarten - Year 12 (K-12) students and their families, collaboration with partner schools and external agencies, and consultation with Lead and Partner School Psychologists across Western Australia. With a diverse student cohort, including more than 550 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, applicants will demonstrate culturally responsive practice, strong interpersonal and written communication skills, and a willingness to undertake statewide travel as required.
SIDE's main campus is in Leederville, with additional facilities at Canning College, Clarkson Community High School and North Lake Senior Campus. Suitable applicants may be required to work from any of these locations, or future SIDE sites, as operational needs require.
