Your role

We are seeking a highly motivated communications professional with a passion for developing innovative and accessible communications solutions for families, carers and kin on the roll out of a new disability support program across NSW. You’ll contribute to our department’s aim to create safe, just, inclusive and resilient communities.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the delivery of an established Communications Strategy to support engagement with a new program being rolled out in a complex reform environment.
  • Partner with internal business clients, subject-matter experts, communications colleagues, Ministerial Offices, and cross-government agency leads, to define and deliver communications objectives.
  • Deliver, monitor and optimise the Communications Strategy through the full program implementation period.
  • Develop and deliver an education and awareness campaign for families.
  • Coordinate effective planning and delivery of communications activities across key owned and earned channels, including media, social media and websites.
  • Brief the production of high-quality multi-media communications products in line with the Communications Strategy.
  • Ongoing monitoring and reporting on the impact and performance of communications activities to continuously build insights and learning into communications planning.
  • Project management, including supporting budget management and procurement in line with DCJ and NSW Government policies.
  • Monitor risks and emerging trends to inform current and future approaches and maintain visibility and confidence in the communications approach across diverse, high level project stakeholders.
  • Communications evaluation and transition to business-as-usual communications management post full implementation.

What we’re looking for

  • Substantial experience in managing complex communications activities and building strong working relationships.
  • Experience managing the development and delivery of a range of communications strategies of varying size and complexity, across a wide geographic area.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to consult and liaise with people at all levels within the organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

We focus on hiring people who share our commitment and goals of inclusion, collaboration, adaptability, courage and integrity. If you meet the essential requirements and the role resonates with you, please apply – you do not need to meet every desired requirement for us to want to talk to you.

What We Offer

  • A challenging and rewarding career
  • Flexible, autonomous work environment
  • Competitive pay and conditions
  • Training and development opportunities to build and maintain capabilities
  • Health & Wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programs.
