Located in sunny, northern Australia, Darwin Dermatology is a leading provider of comprehensive dermatology services for the greater Darwin region, offering care across medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.

Founded in 2016 by specialist dermatologist Dr.

Dev Tilakaratne, who has deep expertise in treating skin within Darwin’s tropical climate, the clinic manages a wide range of conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, childhood skin conditions, and skin cancers.

The team also provides specialised services such as patch testing for skin allergies, phototherapy with the Daavlin 3 Series Narrowband UVB machine, nanofractional radiofrequency treatments for acne scarring and photoaging, and surgical removal of skin cancers.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting consultations, performing dermatoscopic skin examinations, managing chronic skin conditions, and overseeing treatment plans aligned with evidence‑based guidelines.

The role involves performing procedures such as skin biopsies, excisions for skin cancers, minor surgical interventions, and supervising phototherapy and advanced treatments including nanofractional radiofrequency.

The Dermatologist will work collaboratively with referring practitioners, contribute to patient education, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and support continuous improvement in clinical protocols and patient care pathways.

  • Relevant medical degree and specialist qualification in Dermatology; current registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate medical board.
  • Demonstrated competence in dermatologic surgery, skin cancer detection and management, and use of phototherapy equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient‑centered approach and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to clinical governance, continuous professional development, and adherence to evidence‑based practice.
  • Specialist qualification in Dermatology obtained in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom or Ireland is an advantage.
  • Registration & Medicare

If you're unsure whether you're eligible to work in Australia, we're happy to have a confidential, no‑obligation discussion about the registration pathway and what opportunities may be available.

Many specialists assume that Australia's 10‑year Medicare moratorium means they have very limited options when they first arrive.

In reality, the rules are often more nuanced than people expect, and regional locations such as Darwin may offer opportunities that are not always available immediately in some metropolitan areas under Australia's workforce distribution arrangements.
