The opportunity:

CSIRO's Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS) team manages a diverse national property portfolio that supports some of Australia's most significant scientific research facilities. We are seeking a Project Management Office Coordinator to strengthen governance, assurance and project controls across CSIRO's capital works portfolio. Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office, you will provide expert advice on governance, risk and assurance, coordinate assurance activities and reviews, and support the planning and delivery of complex infrastructure projects and programs.

Your high-level duties will include:

  • Leading the establishment and implementation of governance and assurance frameworks, processes and reporting for capital works programs.
  • Monitoring project performance, risk, compliance, cost and schedule indicators to identify emerging issues and support informed decision-making.
  • Coordinating internal audits, health checks, assurance reviews, benefits realisation reports and project governance assessments.
  • Managing external gateway reviews and independent assurance activities, including engagement of specialist consultants.
  • Developing and implementing tools, templates and systems that support project planning, governance and delivery.
  • Providing evidence-based advice, reports and recommendations to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Supporting system improvement and program-level planning by identifying delivery risks, dependencies and constraints.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen project delivery capability across the organisation.

Location: Melbourne (Clayton) or Canberra (Black Mountain) preferred, with other CSIRO locations considered.

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, construction management, business, or a related discipline, and relevant experience in capital works project governance, assurance, project controls or program delivery.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying project controls (cost, schedule and risk management), together with governance and assurance frameworks, audit and review methodologies, to support the effective planning and delivery of capital works projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective use of project management tools, systems and strategies and delivery of capital works projects or programs.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communications and stakeholder management skills to build and maintain strong working relationships, and the capability to support change across user groups and the organisation.
  • Ability to effectively lead, support, and coordinate a small team to achieve shared goals through clear communication, accountability, and collaboration.
  • A history of professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating gateway reviews and assurance functions.
  • Relevant certification in project or program management, risk management, internal audit or assurance, such as PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, MoR or an equivalent recognised certification.
