Looking for your next step in private practice?

CQ Psych Services is looking for an experienced Psychologist to join our established team in Gladstone, Central Queensland.

We offer the things that make private practice sustainable — an established referral base, exceptional administrative support, comprehensive clinical resources and templates, structured professional development, a collaborative team and a caseload model designed with burnout prevention in mind.

For the right person, this role also offers something more: a genuine pathway into Clinical Team Leadership, including responsibility for clinical supervision and team development.

Whether you're an experienced Psychologist looking for a great team to call home, or you're ready to explore the next stage of your career in clinical leadership, we'd love to hear from you.

Why CQ Psych Services?

Private practice shouldn't mean doing everything yourself.

Our clinicians are supported by an established administration and management team, comprehensive internal systems, clinical resources and templates, structured professional development and an established referral network.

We want our psychologists spending their time being psychologists — not chasing referrals, designing basic systems from scratch or carrying unnecessary administrative load.

You’ll have access to:

  • Strong, established administrative support and referral pathways
  • Individual clinical and peer/group supervision
  • Comprehensive clinical templates, resources and practice systems
  • Professional development budget, structured development opportunities and regular in-house training
  • Burnout Prevention Caseload Model with balanced, sustainable workloads
  • Flexible working arrangements by agreement
  • Varied therapy and assessment work, with opportunities to develop or expand your clinical niche.
  • A collaborative, experienced clinical team with comprehensive onboarding and training
  • Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate
  • Guaranteed Christmas leave
  • A genuine pathway into Clinical Team Leadership, including responsibility for clinical supervision and team development

A Regional Role With Some Serious Lifestyle Perks

If you're considering relocating to Gladstone, we know the position itself is only part of the decision.

Relocation assistance may be negotiated for the right candidate, and eligible employment packages may include a Yaralla Lifestyle Membership, providing access to a range of local gyms, golf courses, Gladstone Aquatic Centre, tennis and squash facilities and Gladstone Cinemas.

Gladstone offers the advantages of regional living with the coast, beaches, fishing, boating, freshwater recreation, walking tracks and 4WD/bush adventures all within easy reach — and considerably less time spent commuting.

Your Clinical Role

You’ll initially join us as an experienced Psychologist, providing psychological intervention and/or assessment according to your experience and areas of interest.

Our clinician diaries operate within our Burnout Prevention Caseload Model.

That means we actively consider more than whether there is an empty appointment in your calendar.

We monitor caseload mix and complexity, don't schedule clients outside your agreed working hours, support planned leave and recognise that sustainable clinical practice requires time for the work that happens around the client appointment too.

We also value clinician autonomy.

You won't be expected to practise exactly like the psychologist sitting next to you. We want clinicians to develop areas of interest, bring their professional strengths to the team and continue growing throughout their career.

Then, There’s Where This Role Could Go

For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into our Clinical Lead role.

We're intentionally looking for an experienced clinician who could, after establishing themselves within CQ Psych Services, progress into a position supporting and developing our clinical team alongside our Director and Practice Manager.

You’ll have the opportunity to first get to know our team, systems and approach to care, while we get to know your strengths, interests and leadership style. From there, we can work together to build a structured transition into clinical leadership and in-house supervision that feels right for both you and the team.

The pathway may progressively include:

  • Providing individual and Board-approved supervision where appropriately qualified
  • Mentoring and supporting psychologists and early-career clinicians
  • Providing clinical consultation and support with complex presentations
  • Supporting onboarding and clinician development
  • Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement
  • Identifying and supporting professional development needsSupporting students and provisional psychologists undertaking placement
  • Working alongside the Director and Practice Manager on clinical team and service development

As these responsibilities grow, dedicated non-client time would form part of the role.

Clinical leadership and supervision are meaningful responsibilities, and we believe they need appropriate time and space to be done well. We value sustainable workloads and would structure the clinical caseload accordingly.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced psychologist who has developed genuine depth across their clinical career and is ready to bring that experience into a team.

You’ll have:

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Substantial post-registration experience as a practising psychologist
  • Broad experience across client presentations and varying levels of complexity
