Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly. The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year. MCV aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
Make a crucial contribution to a multidisciplinary team that includes a magistrate, lawyer, police and support persons. ARC provides non-adversarial, less formal hearings to review and support participant progress, and you will deliver complex case management using a holistic and collaborative approach. Working with participants experiencing mental illness and/or cognitive impairment, as well as issues relating to alcohol and other drugs, homelessness, family violence and limited social supports, you will help individuals stabilise their circumstances and work towards meaningful goals. Unlike many case management roles, you will have the opportunity to build long-term therapeutic relationships, working with voluntary, non-mandated participants for up to 12 months prior to sentencing. Alongside participants, you will attend Court regularly to provide expert advice to the Magistrate and multidisciplinary team, contributing to positive and lasting outcomes for some of the court's most vulnerable clients.
About You
This role requires advanced case management skills and the ability to provide client-centred, strengths-based and solution-focused support to people with complex needs. You will bring:
- Relevant qualifications (Diploma level highly desirable) and/or experience in forensic, family violence, AOD, homelessness and/or mental health settings.
- A person-centred, evidence-based approach, with the ability to motivate and support positive change.
- Experience in, or the capability to provide, coaching and mentoring to other case managers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with the judiciary, legal professionals and service providers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, maintaining case notes and presenting in a court environment.
